Oscar Watch 2015: Seven Films Compete for Make-up and Hairstyling Award

On Dec. 15, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the seven films that will remain in competition for the 2015 Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling Academy Award. Make-Up Artist magazine highlighted the work in these films in Issues 108109110 and 111. Here are the possible nominees for the 87th Academy Awards: 

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Sarah Rubano and Howard Berger)
Foxcatcher (Bill Corso and Dennis Liddiard)
The Grand Budapest Hotel (Frances Hannon and Mark Coulier)
Guardians of the Galaxy (Elizabeth Yianni-Georgiou and David White)
Maleficent (Rick Baker, Toni G and Arjen Tuiten)
Noah (Judy Chin, Jerry Popolis and Adrien Morot)
The Theory of Everything (Jan Sewell and Kristyan Mallett)

All members of the academy’s Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch will view 10-minute excerpts from each film and vote to nominate three finalists for Oscar consideration at the annual bake-off event on Jan. 10. Make-Up Artist magazine is now accepting student competition applications for the 2009 Los Angeles International Make-Up Artist Trade Show. The themes for this year are Gothic and X-Men Mutants. The competition is open to students of a recognized make-up school and to those who graduated 12 months prior to the competition. Make-Up Artist will only accept competition entries postmarked by May 22, 2009.
