Who will be named YouTube Beauty Vlogger of the Year? The beauty
vlogosphere is one step closer to finding out: Wednesday, NYX Cosmetics
announced that is has chosen six finalists to compete in its Fine
Artistry of Cosmetic Elites Awards, held Aug. 24 in Los Angeles.
FACE Awards are designed to recognize beauty vloggers’ make-up,
education and video-production skills as well as their creativity and
online reach. This year’s FACE Awards launched in April with a series of
video challenges for bloggers ages 15 and older; since then, the pool
of more than 1,000 entrants was narrowed to 30, then 20, then 12. The
first 30 entrants in the competition were selected by an NYX Cosmetics
panel, each round after that was decided by popular vote. Challenges
included vintage, futuristic and superhero/supervillain beauty looks.
six finalists announced Wednesday are: Katherine Ward
(xxmakeupiscoolxx), Adelaine Morin (C0OK1EMONSTER), Alexys Fleming
(MadeYewLook), Missy Living (start2finishmua), Leina Novicio
(MakeupByLeinaBaaaby) and Sarah Burgett (BeautyPolice101).
NYX FACE Awards was launched last year as a way to give back to the
beauty vlogger community that supported and popularized the NYX
Cosmetics brand to what it is today,” explained NYX Marketing Events
Manager Miriam Rodriguez.
“As a direct result of winning the
competition and being named our 2012 Beauty Vlogger of the Year, Charis,
under the name Charismastar on YouTube, is now one of the premiere
beauty gurus, with a healthy following of over 150,000 subscribers
today. Our runners-up have received a huge number of awards and
accolades participating in the competition, including last year’s
finalist Angie Davis, who won the prestigious Ve Neill Legends of Makeup
Scholarship to attend Cinema Makeup School.
“The soul of this
entire competition and idea behind its birth was to give exposure to the
talented and creative individuals who make up the beauty community that
we’ve always called a close friend.”
The finalists will fly to
Los Angeles Aug. 20 to compete in a live make-up challenge held Aug. 24.
The grand-prize winner will receive $25,000, the title YouTube Beauty
Vlogger of the Year, access to beauty-industry insiders and national
publicity. The five runners-up will each receive a year's supply of NYX

asked Holthuis, a fashion pro, to create “a small story with bold looks
within a small time frame, to test out how far we [could] push
ourselves creatively,” Holthuis said.
