In an exciting development, Key Publishing Group announced that famed make-up artist Kabuki will headline IMATS New York and Los Angeles 2012.
Known for editorial (Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle), celebrity (Madonna, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson), TV and film (Sex and the City, Party Monster) and runway make-up (Zac Posen, Diesel, Jason Wu, Miss Sixty), Kabuki is one of the most exciting talents working today.
IMATS Los Angeles will be June 23-24 at the Pasadena Convention Center. This largest IMATS will celebrate its 15th year with award-winning speakers, an expanded exhibitor floor, showcase pieces debuting at the Make-up Museum and—new for 2012—a special make-up effects area for vendors, demonstrations and more. Visit http://www.imats.net/los/los_index.php soon for details.
London-based make-up artist Angela Holthuis and photographer Izabela Habur set a challenge for themselves: Habur
asked Holthuis, a fashion pro, to create “a small story with bold looks
within a small time frame, to test out how far we [could] push
ourselves creatively,” Holthuis said.
Make-Up Artist magazine is now accepting student competition
applications for the 2009 Los Angeles International Make-Up Artist
Trade Show. The themes for this year are Gothic and X-Men Mutants. The competition is open to students of a recognized make-up school and
to those who graduated 12 months prior to the competition. Make-Up Artist will only accept competition entries postmarked by May 22, 2009.
