Can you recreate a runway look with drugstore cosmetics? Then you may
want to enter the Be a Sensational Makeup Artist contest, sponsored by
Maybelline New York and CVS/pharmacy. The top prize is an assistant
make-up artist position at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week during the fall
2011 shows in New York City. To enter, participants must submit
videos of themselves creating a make-up look on themselves, a friend or
a family member with Maybelline New York cosmetics. The competition is
open through Oct. 15.
A panel of beauty experts—including
Maybelline New York make-up artists and executives—will select five
finalists, although the public will determine the grand-prize winner
through online voting. The winner's make-up look will be showcased in
the Feb. 2011 issue of a top beauty/fashion magazine. The winner will
also receive a trip for two to New York City, a professional make-up
artist kit full of Maybelline products, a gift bag and the chance to
assist a Maybelline New York Artist backstage at Mercedes-Benz Fashion
Week.
Online voting will take place from Oct. 20-Nov. 7. Voters
will be automatically entered to win prizes, including an all-expense
paid trip for two to New York City, two tickets to a show at Fashion
Week in New York, a beauty makeover and gift bags. To enter
the contest, go to www.besensationalandwin.com.

| U.K. team collaborates for a different 'Alice in Wonderland' - Tuesday August 04, 2009 |
| On a cold and cloudy Oxford afternoon, U.K. make-up artist Sarah Terry collaborated with photographer Rebecca Parkes, hairstylist Sean Butt and designer Bibian Blue to create this dark vision of Alice in Wonderland.
The Victorian and Edwardian eras inspired Terry to contrast creams and
gold hues with vibrant reds and smoky blacks. Appliqués, feathers, nail
art and Butts’ elaborate hair design gave the looks texture. This
particular Alice (Samantha Wilkinson) and White Rabbit (Blossom Blois)
look innocent, but there’s a hint of mischief here, too. Let’s follow
them down the path, shall we? |
