Tonight, Oct. 23, the Hair & Makeup Artist Network will host its
first annual Monster Ball Halloween Celebration at Tangier Restaurant
in Los Feliz, California. Sponsored by E.I. School of Professional
Makeup, this creative showcase will give guests the opportunity to
mingle with celebrity hair and make-up artists from film, television
and print as well as top directors, producers, photographers and

Salon. Door prizes include products from Vivid MD Skin Care and Elaine
Cosmetics. The doors open at 8 p.m., and a cover charge of $25 before
10 p.m. guarantees a drink ticket and food.
The Hair &
Makeup Artist Network was created by make-up artist Michelle Lee as a
way to help fellow make-up artists learn the best way to network in the
entertainment industry. The Network has hosted workshops taught by the
Cloutier Agency, Smashbox, Paul Mitchell, Make Up For Ever, Fred Blau,
celebrity hairstylist Neeko and many others.
London-based make-up artist Angela Holthuis and photographer Izabela Habur set a challenge for themselves: Habur
asked Holthuis, a fashion pro, to create “a small story with bold looks
within a small time frame, to test out how far we [could] push
ourselves creatively,” Holthuis said.
Make-Up Artist magazine is now accepting student competition
applications for the 2009 Los Angeles International Make-Up Artist
Trade Show. The themes for this year are Gothic and X-Men Mutants. The competition is open to students of a recognized make-up school and
to those who graduated 12 months prior to the competition. Make-Up Artist will only accept competition entries postmarked by May 22, 2009.
