New Girl, starring Zooey Deschanel, is one of this season’s breakout TV comedies. The actress plays Jess Day, a goofy teacher who, after a break-up, finds herself sharing a loft with three single men. Department head Jorjee Douglass collaborated with Deschanel on the character’s look. According to Douglas, the pair took their cues from “the beautiful ladies in Jean-Luc Godard films,” ultimately creating a make-up that she describes as “natural and youthful with a sexy eye.”
“We all think Zooey is a dreamboat!” Douglas says. “She is wonderful to work with, and she likes to use natural products.”
