On July 22, 2012, pop sensation Carly Rae Jepsen looked dazzling onstage and on the pink carpet at the Teen Choice Awards, where she received her award for Choice Music Breakout Artist. Celebrity make-up artist Desirae Cherman, who created her look, says she “decided to do a smoky eye to bring an element of drama to the look.” Below, she discusses the products used to prepare the young starlet for her Teen Choice Award-winning debut.
Skincare
“I always love for skin to glow! The best way to achieve that is to start with good skin prep. I started with Jurlique Lavender Hydrating Mist to help hydrate as well as balance.”
Foundation
“I used a medium coverage foundation, Dermablend Smooth Indulgence Foundation in Fawn, to really give the skin a glow.”
Concealer
“Also used Dermablend Smooth Indulgence Concealer in Nude to highlight and brighten the under-eye area.”
Powder
“To finish the look, I used Dermablend Smooth Indulgence Mineral Finishing Powder in Dusk—only in the T-zone area.”
Eye Shadow
“I like to start with the eyes, while the skin soaks in the prep products...I primed her eyelid with tarte Clean Slate 360 Creaseless, then used M.A.C. Eye Kohl in Rosemary & Thyme (this shade is no longer available, but according to a M.A.C. representative, M.A.C. Powerpoint Eye Pencil in Forever Green is comparable) above her lashes and blended onto her crease, [then] followed with CHANEL Illusion D'ombre in Epatant.”
Eye Liner
“[I] lined her top and bottom lash line, as well as waterline, with tarte Call Of The Wild Amazonian Clay Liner [a limited-edition product].”
Mascara
“[I] curled her lashes and applied two coats of mascara.”
Lips
“[I] went with Laura Mercier Lip Stain in Shy Pink with just a hint of NARS Cosmetics Lip Gloss in Turkish Delight.”
