"My inspiration for Carey's look for the Golden Globes was pure English Rose! I wanted to keep the skin luminous and cool with a sweet pink cheek, the eyes soft yet defined with gray metallic shadows, and the lips a 'just bitten' berry stain," said Arlt, the director of makeup artistry for M.A.C. Cosmetics based out of Los Angeles.

| On the brow, as a highlight, Arlt applied M.A.C. Eye Shadow in Phloof!, using the M.A.C. 252 Large Shader Brush. In the crease, he blended M.A.C. Eye Shadow in Truce (a discontinued color) and Copperplate (which is very similar to Truce), using M.A.C. 224 Tapered Blending Brush. Arlt also applied M.A.C. Eye Shadow in Satin Taupe on the eyelids, using a M.A.C. 242 Shader Brush, and M.A.C. Eye Shadow in Print to the outer corners of the eyes, using a tapered shader brush. |

| Arlt created a custom lip balm/stain for Mulligan by mixing ½ a drop of rose oil and ½ a drop of mint oil into M.A.C. Pro Tinted Lip Conditioner SPF 15 in Clear, with a drop of M.A.C. Pro Lipmix in Crimson and Burgundy, along with a ¼ drop of M.A.C. Pro Lipmix in Black “to create the perfect berry stain.” Arlt said that consumers can try M.A.C. Pro Tinted Lip Conditioner SPF 15 in Plum Perfect (also found in stores). |
