With the addition of an eye shadow and two lip products, make-up artist Jeanne Van Phue used the same products for the prom scene as she did for the rest of the film. “I used a heavier hand in my application of the makeup for the prom,” said Van Phue.

Skincare
Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Cream SPF 55
Foundation
SK-II Air Touch Foundation in OP-3
Concealer
Flawless Face Foundation/Concealer is a must have in Van Phue's make-up kit. The product was made for burn victims. "Once the skin is cleaned, apply to blemishes, discoloration or any imperfections. It must be powdered for it to set; this makes it water resistant." Van Phue uses Flawless Face Finishing Powder to set the concealer.
Powder
M.A.C. Blot Powder/Pressed in Light
Blush
Visiora Compact Powder in PC 103. Van Phue loves this blush because, despite being pale, if you apply it heavier “it will make the cheeks pop more, but not make you look clownish.” She blended it slightly up into the temples and a little into the hairline.
Eye Shadow
M.A.C. Eye Shadow in Blanc Type, Flute, Wedge and Handwritten. Van Phue applied Blanc Type as a base to the entire lid and brow bone, Flute on the lower lid, and a combination of Wedge and Handwritten across the crease and out toward the temple. “Handwritten is a deep, dark color so use it sparingly. It can get too dark and look a little muddy so be careful.” Van Phue suggests lifting a little eye shadow on to the brush and tapping it to get rid of the excess. “Be careful: Sometimes you can put too much shadow onto the brush and it will sprinkle down to your cheekbones and under your eyes and make a mess.” To fix this problem she recommends cutting or tearing a piece of tissue to fit under the corner of the eye and out over the cheekbone. Dampen the edge so it will stick to your face and the excess shadow will fall onto the tissue. Alternatively, she suggests waiting to apply foundation under the eyes and on the cheekbones until after you have finished the eye make-up. This way you can clean it after you have applied your shadow and then apply your foundation afterward. When applying shadow, Van Phue recommends using the back of your hand as a palette to mix the colors. If necessary, apply a little more shadow to darken if it is too light. “It is much easier to add shadow than it is to remove,” she said.
Eye Liner
With an angled brush, Van Phue applied a very thin line of the combined eye shadow colors (see eye shadows above) as an eye liner to the top lid—as close to the lash line as possible. “Apply the line from the inside corner of the eye to the outside corner, graduating the line a little thicker toward the outside. Smudge so there is no line of demarcation.” As close to the lower lashes as possible, she applied a line from the inside bottom corner out, meeting at the corner from bottom to top. “Blend out with a clean, firm brush or a rubber tip applicator. Bend it upward in a slight cat-eye fashion, making sure the shadows are well blended.”
Mascara
Smashbox Limitless Lash Mascara in Black Waterproof. Before applying mascara, Van Phue curls the eyelashes with an electric eyelash curler: “It does not break your eyelashes or give them that strange, unnatural bend you get when using a conventional eyelash curler,” she said. She suggests Touch Beauty Heated Eyelash Curler or Sephora Brand Professional Heated Lash Curler. The curler has a straight wand and “is very easy to use. All you need to do is bend the eyelashes upward and hold.” After 30 years as a professional make-up artist, Van Phue only uses waterproof mascara. “Women cry, perspire and sometimes rub their eyes unknowingly. Waterproof mascara doesn't run or smudge. It is harder to remove, but with an oil-based make-up remover it is worth the extra effort. I prefer my actors to look flawless, not like raccoons.” Because of the heat and lights on a set, actors’ make-up can run down their faces. “This happened to one of my actors on a set once. I had to stop and reapply, so now I only use waterproof mascara.”
Lips
Laura Mercier Skincare Lip Treatment Kit for Lips, Smashbox Lip & Lid Primer, Benefit Silky Finish Lipstick in Good to Go, Vincent Longo Lip Pencil in Naked and Benefit Lip Gloss in Zone Out. After using Laura Mercier’s Lip Polish and Lip Conditioner for exfoliation and Smashbox Lip & Lid Primer, Van Phue lined the lips with the Naked lip pencil then used Good to Go heavily. She then used her finger to lightly tap Zone Out gloss in the middle of the bottom lip.

Wow! Thank you! This breakdown was such a pleasant surprise and well worth the wait! I am so tickled that Jeanne took the time to give us such detailed application tips as well. Kristen's makeup looked stunning in the Prom Scene and I am excited to try replicating this look!

Dear Makeup411,
Could you do a Beauty Breakdown of the New Moon Movie look of Bella Swan played by Kristen Stewart? The new makeup artist Robin Mathews has created a beautiful look which I'm sure many would like to copy-myself included.
Thank You!

Robin actually responded to an email I sent her on IMDB and said she was doing a breakdown for this site. I am curious to know when it will be published as she wasn't sure herself. In addition, will this site be putting up anything special to do with the DuWop Twilight makeup line set to be released in a few days? Thanks!

I contacted Nigel's Beauty Emporium and they have never heard of Flawless Face. I also checked the number for Flawless Face listed on the link and it has to many numbers. How do I purchase the foundation/concealer and the finishing powder?

Probably won't be posted until late October, November. Crossing my fingers you will post it sooner though!
BTW, does anyone know how to purchase Flawless Face makeup? Seems I can't even find the manufacturer on Google.

Thank you for the comments and requests. We are working on getting the 'New Moon' breakdown from Robin, so please be patient. Often with studio restrictions, these type of things can't be posted until it's closer to the release date.

As for Flawless Face, I called the number myself and spoke to the owner of the company. Dialing the extra S won't affect you getting through to them; this is the actual phone # 1-866-935-2953. Also, the owner, Donna, told me they're working on getting their Web site up.

At this time, we will only feature the DuWop 'Twilight'-inspired line on this Web site if a make-up artist uses it. We may feature it in 'Make-Up Artist' magazine if we run it in our product reviews.

If you want to hear more about the 'New Moon' make-up, come to our Toronto International Make-Up Artist Trade Show Nov. 21-22, 2009. (www.imats-toronto.com) The make-up department head, Norma Hill-Patton, will be a keynote speaker and will talk about working on the movie.

Cheers!

Thank you for the update on the Flawless Face company. I called the number and was able to leave a message. On another side note, will you be doing any shows/talks etc in the Southern California area? Unfortunately Toronto is a little far for me.

Dear Makeup411,
The premiere of The Twilight Saga: New Moon is fast approaching, and Robin Mathews has begun giving out small details about the makeup used on Kristen Stewart (in the role of Bella Swan) for the film. Does this mean you are closer to being able to post the full breakdown, and if so do you know when?
Sorry for the trouble. I really am trying desperately to be patient.
Thanks so much for your amazing work!

This will sound impatient too, but the only reason I LOVE makeup411 is because they do these on important movies (like Twilight). So, I can't wait for them to have to breakdown for New Moon. If you wouldn't mind emailing me when it finally comes that will be great!!!! Fyi, wedge is my favorite mac shadow color, because it looks so good on me. So, whatever Kristen wears, it will look good on me. Can't wait!!! Btw, if you are a Twilight fan (like me) then definitely go see the movie :D AMAZING! and amazing makeup! EDWARD ACTUALLY ISN'T AS PALE AS BELLA!! YAY!! hahaha

Oooh! I am mad now. Not at you Robin but at DuWop! That is false advertising! They had a whole page up saying you used Fountain of Youth foundation, Brown Eyes eyeshadow palette, cheek stain in Sidewinder etc etc. Now I bought that stuff for nothing! Grrr. Well some of it is nice but still. FALSE ADVERTISING!

Robin,
That's too bad about New Moon makeup, it looked beautiful :) but hey, stuff happens right?
It would be amazing if you could give breakdowns for "Welcome To The Riley's" and/or "The Runaways"
Whatever foundations you use are perfect, it doesn't look like foundation at all, just really nice skin!

Sadly, I don't believe Robin is allowed to share the exact products she used on Kristen seeing as how Breaking Dawn still needs to be filmed. I know, I'm dying to find out what lip product she used too. I have however, come across a few interviews where Robin reveals a couple of products and insider secrets like, she used five different blushes!

Thanks for the links, Mae87. You're correct, Robin Mathews is not revealing which specific products she used on Kristen Stewart. Here is her explanation, which was originally posted on our message board on Dec. 15, 2009:

Hi Everyone!
Hope you all enjoyed The Twilight Saga: New Moon!
I want to thank you all for your gracious comments on Bella's make-up.
Your interest in my make-up design is overwhelmingly inspiring.
Thank you!
I too love to read makeup411.com and often use it as research for new products. It is a wonderful resource. The only one of it's kind in my opinion.
I know you guys want to know the breakdown for Bella's New Moon look, and I was hoping to post it for you. Unfortunately, because we still have Breaking Dawn left to shoot, I am not able to divulge the breakdown.
I'm so sorry for the bad news, but we have 3 more films staring Kristen currently "in the can" as they say - The Runaways (also with Dakota Fanning!), Welcome to the Rileys, and of course The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
Maybe Make-up Artist Magazine / makeup411.com would like to do some articles about these wonderful films.
I'd be honored to tell you guys about them if you're interested.
I hope you all have a wonderful Holiday Season, and a fabulously make-up filled New Year!
Best wishes!
Robin Mathews

EDITOR'S NOTE: You can see an article about The Twilight Saga: Eclipse in Issue 84 of Make-Up Artist magazine.

Hi!

I know there have been a lot of comments regarding this matter, but I'm still curious when we are going to be able to see a breakdown of Kristen's looks in the rest of the Twilight Saga movies...I'm especially looking forward to knowing what products were used for her vampire look in the Breaking Dawn part 2... After all, the movie has been finished with filming already and there's even sneak peeks on youtube. So...How much longer do we have to wait? Sorry for the impatience, but I'm starting to feel desperate... At least give us some timeline?
