Make-up artist Jeffrey Paul styled Slumdog Millionaire actress Freida Pinto's hair and make-up for the 81st Annual Academy Awards. Paul wanted to create a look that brought out what he called Pinto's inner radiance. "Her beauty and look remind me of the light in the morning sunrise: effervescent, youthful and radiant," Paul said. "She is aglow, a beauty icon in the making; she is sweet, humble, loving and kind."

Paul used Aveda products for Pinto’s hair, which was dried in a backward motion, then divided into three parts, with each part brought back under the right ear into a flower shape. Parts of the hair were twisted and secured into the low couture flower, and a light spray finished the look.
