At the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards held Jan. 11, 2009, actress Sally Hawkins won Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical for her role as Poppy in Happy-Go-Lucky.
Here's what make-up artist Highland told us about creating the make-up for Sally:
"With Sally’s very fair skin it’s tricky to get coverage without looking like a mask. That’s why I like the shear foundation of Make Up Forever and using concealers where needed looks more natural. And on an award show, waterproof mascara is a must! I also like to use shimmer on the eyes to catch the lights; it looks beautiful! Also [it's] important to select a lip shade that can easily be maintained by the client all night, and make sure you pack them with their lip color and powder and eye pencil to reapply throughout the evening for a continued flawless finish."
DuWop Liptones (lip pencil) in Melody, a pink-based neutral Stila Plumping Lip Glaze in Cherry Mint (a shimmering rose color). Highland used the DuWop Liptones all over the lip to create a long-lasting base and then applied the Stila gloss over it.
